Trauma Therapy

“Healing the Past and Embracing a Brighter Future”

Life's journey is often filled with unexpected challenges, and for many individuals, these challenges can manifest as deeply distressing experiences that leave lasting scars on one’s mental and emotional well-being. Trauma is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon that can result from a wide range of distressing events such as accidents, physical or emotional abuse, natural disasters, combat exposure, loss of a loved one, or other life-altering experiences. The impact of trauma can be profound and long-lasting, effecting an individual's ability to function in everyday life and hindering their capacity for healthy relationships.

In trauma therapy, I commit to providing a safe and supportive environment where clients can embark on a journey of healing and empowerment. My approach is tailored to meet each client's unique needs while fostering resilience, restoring hope, and promoting holistic well-being.

Sources of Trauma

I have extensive experience working through the following areas of trauma with clients:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Childhood Trauma (e.g., neglect, physical or sexual abuse)

  • Complex Trauma (resulting from prolonged exposure to multiple traumatic events)

  • Traumatic Grief

  • Combat-Related Trauma

  • Survivors of Sexual Assault or Domestic Violence

  • Accidents/Injuries

  • Natural Disasters

I recognize that each client has their own unique experience with trauma – no two stories are alike – so my  therapeutic approach is personalized based on the specific needs presented by each individual.

Therapeutic Approaches

Our work together will draw from a variety of research/evidence-based therapeutic modalities rooted in compassion and understanding:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This structured form of therapy helps individuals understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, behaviors related to traumatic experiences while developing coping skills.

  • Somatic Experiencing: This body-oriented approach focuses on releasing pent-up tension resulting from trauma by paying attention to bodily sensations during sessions.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): DBT provides skills training in emotion regulation & interpersonal effectiveness which benefits those struggling with post-traumatic stress symptoms stemming from negative self-image or social isolation issues following trauma.

  • Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Through mindfulness practices such as meditation & deep breathing exercises clients learn how to cultivate present moment awareness while regulating emotions linked with their traumatic experiences.

  • Narrative Therapy: By reshaping personal narratives around traumatic events this method allows clients to reinterpret past painful experiences into empowering stories reflecting strength & growth over time.
